Robert Lloyd Essenberg's Obituary
Mr. Robert L. Essenberg, age 79, passed away Tuesday evening following a long illness. Robert was born in Muskegon on July 8, 1929 to Walter and Iva (Crummel) Essenberg. He was a 1948 graduate of Muskegon Hts. H.S. and following graduation served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. He married the former Sharon Seguin on December 26, 1952. Bob was a member of Fruitport Congregational United Church of Christ, served on the boards of director for the Muskegon Heritage Association, the Miss Michigan Pageant and was a former firefighter with the Fruitport Twp. Fire Dept. A carpenter by trade, Bob worked many years for Alstrom Construction and eventually retired from the Muskegon Public Schools in 1992. He is survived by: wife, Sharon; son, Rob Essenberg of Norton Shores; daughter, Darci (Michael) Reinink of Norton Shores; five grandchildren, Alan, Bradley and Jill Essenberg, Jordan and Megan Reinink; two brothers, Marvin Essenberg of Fruitport and James (Helen) Essenberg of Holland, MI. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Gilbert. The funeral service will be held at: Fruitport Congregational United Church of Christ, 9 South 8th St. Fruitport, Monday, 11:00 A.M. Rev. Don Wood officiating. Visitation will be held, Sunday, 6-8 P.M at:

and one hour prior to the funeral at church. He will be laid to rest in Fruitport Cemetery with military rites under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council of Veterans.
