Robert R. Grasmeyer's Obituary
Robert R. Grasmeyer, age 78, passed away in Muskegon early Saturday morning, April 23, 2011 following a long illness. He was born in New Era, MI on January 3, 1933 to Ralph and Addie (Strandberg) Grasmeyer. Bob graduated from Montague High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He married the former Mary Lou Ford in 1953 and was a devoted, husband, father and grandfather. Robert took great joy in his work, his family and helping friends and strangers alike. Mr. Grasmeyer formerly owned Gras-Meyer Plumbing and Heating in Whitehall. In 1988, Bob and Mary moved to Charleston, SC where he continued working. In 2006, he retired and returned to Muskegon to be near family. He is survived by his loving: wife, Mary; daughter, Kay (Michael) Snell of Whitehall; four grandchildren, Rebecca Pogue of Wyoming, MI, Arin Copenhaver of Anchorage, AK, Elizabeth Drayton of N. Charleston, SC and Emily (Jeff) Glass of N. Muskegon; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald Grasmeyer of Muskegon; and three sisters, Barbara Sundell of Muskegon, Dorothy (Kenneth) Lehman of Erie, MI and Ella Emmert of Hudsonville. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Ott this past January. A Memorial Service will be held at: The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S.
