Mr. Rodney V. Priest's Obituary
Mr. Rodney V. Priest, age 87, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. He was born in Ionia, MI to Stanton and Jennie Priest on September 13, 1927. He served his country in the Navy, rank of PO2, during WWII and the Korean War. Rod was an avid golfer and bowler, with a 700 series at the age of 70. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, but foremost was always his family. Rod attended the grandkids hockey, baseball and softball games. Grandpa was their #1 Fan. Rod was a Detroit Tigers and Red Wings fan. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He had worked as an engineer for GTE/Verizon for 38 years until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of 66 years; two sons, Roger and Randy Priest of Norton Shores; one daughter, Sharon (Jeff) Kieft of Norton Shores; three special grandchildren, Corey, Cody and Kristine Kieft; one sister, Barbara Chester of Twin Lake; one sister-in-law, Elaine Feil of Snellville, GA; one brother-in-law, Donald Kolbe of Jackson, MI; many loving nieces and nephews and two special grand dogs, Rusty and Rocco. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert (Phyllis) Priest; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vern and Irene Nelson, Walt and Betty Love, Janet Kolbe and Al Chester. A PRIVATE family GRAVESIDE service will be held at Norton Cemetery. MEMORIALS may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Muskegon Rescue Mission or Mercy VNS Hospice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the VNS Hospice for their excellent care given to Rod.
