Roger C. Bratton's Obituary
Roger C. Bratton, age 85, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Lakeshore Assisted Living in Grand Haven, Michigan. He was born October 24, 1937, in Mifflin, PA, a son of the late David P. Bratton and Evelyn (Clark) Bratton.
Roger, nicknamed Butch as a child, treasured his early memories growing up in rural Pennsylvania, swimming in the Juniata River and helping at his Aunt Lyd’s restaurant. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University, his master’s from Bloomsburg University, and served in the US Army. The bulk of his career was spent teaching computer languages at George Mason High School in Falls Church, VA, Northern Virginia Community College, and later with the Federal Government.
Roger was a devoted father and counted his daughters as his pride and joy. His other great loves included time at the beach, Sinatra, the Yankees, Penn State football, and being Grandpa. He fulfilled his dream of living at the beach, retiring to Pawley’s Island, SC. He then moved to Spring Lake, Michigan and was delighted to be to be closer to his older daughter.
In addition to his parents Roger was preceded in death by his siblings Josephine Ott, Patricia Clipper, and David (Jack) Bratton. He is survived by his daughters, Julia (Daniel Adrian) and Margaret (Clifton Ogea); grandchildren, Audrey and Sidney Ogea; and brother, Stephen Bratton.
