Roger E. Breuker's Obituary
Mr. Roger E. Breuker, age 81, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in Muskegon. He was born on April 22, 1932 in Muskegon to Rev. John and Cornelia (Heemstra) Breuker. Roger worked 43 years at Brunswick before retiring in 1994. He was a former member of First Christian Reformed Church, where he served as both Elder and Deacon, and sang in the choir. Roger is currently a member of Fruitport Christian Reformed Church. He also volunteered at Western Michigan Christian High School, and was known as WMC’s number #1 sports fans thru the last several decades. On March 27, 1953, Roger married the former Marilyn Weesies and together celebrated 60 years of marriage. SURVIVORS include his wife, Marilyn; 4 daughters, Betty (Dale) Darling of Three Rivers and their children, Matthew and Kristen, Luke and Kim, and Nathan; Connie (Mark) Johnston of Muskegon and their children, Arland and Faith, and Andy; Kathy (Brian) Buter of Scottville and their children, Karl and Kellia, Eric, and Caryn and Mark Carroll; and Trena (Alan) Buter of Grand Haven and their children, Cory and Kristen, and Zack and friend Samantha; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 brother, John (Christine) Breuker of Montague. Roger was preceded in death by son, Harvey Wayne Breuker in 1956; grandson, Chet Alan Johnston in 1985; great granddaughter, Brianna Dawn Darling in 2008; 2 brothers, Burton and Peter Breuker; and sister, Thelma Sikkenga. A FUNERAL SERVICE OF PRAISE will be 2 PM Wednesday at First Christian Reformed Church (1450 Catherine Ave.) with Rev. Bob Pohler officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 and 1 hour prior to the service, from 1-2PM.Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
