Mr. Roger "Rog" Fielstra's Obituary
Roger L. Fielstra, age 69, passed away unexpectedly at Mercy Hospital this past Wednesday morning following a long illness. He was born in Muskegon on May 27, 1942 to Cornelius and Cleo (Weirich) Fielstra and was a 1960 graduate of Muskegon H.S. Mr. Fielstra was employed as a bricklayer for 45 years, working out of Local 9 BAC, the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers. Rog enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and spending time with his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Judith Folk on July 15, 1961 and they were former members of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church. Rog is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy; their son, Michael (Kathy) Fielstra; two daughters, Diane Estabrook and Shelley (Jeff) Chester all of Muskegon; brother, Tom (Darlene) Fielstra of Norton Shores; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a half-brother, Richard Curtis; and great-grandson, Geovanni Fielstra. A memorial service will be held at: The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100, 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 14th with Rev. Ben Jansen officiating. Visitation: the family will begin greeting guests one hour prior to the service. Memorial: American Kidney Foundation.
