Mr. Roger E. Langeland's Obituary
Mr. Roger E. Langeland, 90, passed away early Thursday, December 05, 2013 in Zeeland, MI. Born July 8, 1923 in Muskegon to Edze and Henrietta (Trap) Langeland, he was an Army veteran of World War II. He married the former Geraldine Bol on May 29, 1943 in Rochester, MN, and she survives him. Roger owned and operated Langeland Transmission Repair for many years, and retired in 1980. He and Geri stayed busy after retiring as volunteers for the Christian Reformed World Renew (formerly CR World Relief Committee) and the American Red Cross Disaster Response Teams. He was a member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church, having served as Elder, Deacon and Sunday School teacher. HIS SURVIVORS include his wife; children: Terry (Lavonne) Langeland, Richard (Karen) Langeland, Joan Driesens, Robert (Susan) Langeland, and Dianne (Paul) Moker; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Doris Brondsema. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, a 14-month old son, Roger Edward Langeland, and his son-in-law, Jerry Driesens. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held for Mr. Langeland at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Bethany Christian Reformed Church, 1105 Terrace St., with Rev. Marvin Beelen officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service, 2-3 P.M. at the church.
