Roger C. King's Obituary
Mr. Roger Carl King, age 73, died early Monday, January 12, 2009 at his residence. Born Sept. 17, 1935 in Kalamazoo to Robert C. and Pauline V. King, Roger graduated from Muskegon High School in 1954 and lived most of his life in the Muskegon area. He was the owner of King Radio and Hardware for 54 years before retiring in 1998. He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, life member of Muskegon Eagles Aerie 668 and was a Past Exalted Ruler of Muskegon Elks Lodge 274. He married the former Yvonne Nadeau on April 9, 1976 in Muskegon, and she survives him along with their children: Terri (Charlie) Oyler of Musketon, Patti (David) McGough of Muskegon, Brad (Rita) King of Hart, Lynne (Ed) Radatz of Sandusky, OH, Lori (David) Pardee of Gardner, KS, Shelly King of Holland, Robin VanderMeulen of Muskegon, Joni (Tom Rinness) King of Bay City, Tammi (Jake) Veltman of North Muskegon, and Lance (Mary) Broersma of Muskegon; 29 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Donald (Elsie) King of Muskegon and Leon (Dorothy) King of Cedar, MI; and a close family friend, Reba Owen. He was predeceased by a son, Richard King; his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Violet and W.J. Nadeau; and a brother, Walter King. FUNERAL SERVICES for Mr. King will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday at the Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. Russell Damm and Rev. Jonathan Rager officiating and interment in Norton Cemetery. VISITATION will be at the funeral home from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday, and an Elks Lodge of Sorrow will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Hackley VNS and Hospice.
