Coach was one of my favorite customer's at Mr. Quick's. I always enjoyed bring him his white toast (dry) and his glass of water after he sat down. I can still hear him coming in the door and saying, "white toast dry please". He was always so kind and appreciative. I will forever miss seeing him coming in every day and will dearly miss his patronage. God Bless you Coach. Coach Chev was a character and a man of great character. He helped shape the lives of many in such positive ways -- mine included. Coach Chev changed my life via football at Muskegon Catholic Central. He helped me learn how to trust and believe in myself and my teammates. Dear Chev family,
I am truly sorry for your loss. Of all the mentors that I have experienced in my life time, Coach Chev has influenced me the most. I continue to coach today and give back a little of what he gave to me, while I played for him at Muskegon, 1965-1966. His integrity and convictions never wavered, he stood tall with pride and determination.
The big growling bear had a big heart
for all his players too. He always brought a smile to me when I would see him around town, at practice, at clinics or at Mr. Quicks.
I will miss him also but he will always be with me when I am coaching and
reflecting of the best times that I had in high school.
May the Lords comfort at this difficult time be with all of you.

I know who Coach Chiaverini is, but I don't personally know him. Many years ago my husband and I were at Uncle Ron's Restaurant and Coach was there with a table full of friends discussing present and past sports events. I heard him say, "It's funny how the older we get the better we were." That has always stayed with me and I have told that story many times when his name has come up.
