Romolo Marino "Rom" Garzelloni's Obituary
Mr. Romolo Marino “Rom” Garzelloni, age 89, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011. He was born July 26, 1921 in Muskegon to John and Amelia (Ghezzi) Garzelloni and lived in the area his entire life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WWII. He retired in 1983 after working 41 years as a machinist for Teledyne-Continental Motors. He later worked 13 years as a utility person for Meijer, Inc. On March 8, 1941, he married the former Barbara J. Anderson in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on August 7, 2000. Mr. Garzelloni was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he served as an usher. SURVIVORS include 5 children, Janice (Lamar) McLeod of Florida, Mary Helen (Don) Sherwood of Fruitport, Barbara A. Garzelloni of Florida, Kristi (Gerald) Patterson of Muskegon, John M. Garzelloni of Muskegon; 3 granddaughters and many great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Emil Garzelloni of Muskegon. He was also preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, Tammy McLeod in 2006, his parents, and 4 brothers, Mario, Orrie, Alfred and Johnny Garzelloni. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Friday, January 7, 2011, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum as celebrant. INTERMENT will follow at Laketon Township Cemetery. VISTITATION with the family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home.
