Mr. Ronald A. Antekeier's Obituary
Mr. Ronald Arthur Antekeier, age 84, passed away Tuesday morning, December 23, 2014. He was born July 27, 1930 in Muskegon to Arnold and Alberta (Dion) Antekeier. Ron was a 1949 graduate of St. Jean’s Catholic High School and a U.S. Navy Reservist for 11 years. He worked 22 years for Kaydon Corporation before retiring in 1992, and had also been a contract hauler for the Muskegon Chronicle for many years. Ron was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was a life-time active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an Old Newsie, an avid bowler, and enjoyed walking every day, especially down by Lake Michigan where he grew up. Ron enjoyed RV traveling, doing yard work, and was an avid Tiger’s fan. His greatest joy was being around his family and helping others. On November 22, 1951 he married Joanne Bialik in Muskegon and she survives him along with 4 children: Steve (Rhonda) Antekeier of Norton Shores, Leischen (John) Krause of Grant, Paula (Mike) Upman of Muskegon, Erin (David) Schonhard of Grand Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers: Jerry (Dianne) Antekeier of Belleair, FL, Fr. Charles Antekeier of Clearwater, FL, Kurt Wolfgang of Grand Rapids, Gerard (Mary Kathryn) Antekeier of San Diego, CA; 3 sisters: Paula Bostrom, Virginia (Jim) Wier both of Muskegon, Dolores (Ted) Kusmierz of Grand Rapids; sister-in-law: Susan Antekeier of Apalachicola, FL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Merelise, Bernadette, Martha, Lucy; and brother, Andrew. A MEMORIAL MASS will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz presiding. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565, with the Rosary Prayed at 6:00 PM.
