Mr. Ronald D. Barnes' Obituary
Mr. Ronald D. Barnes, age 70, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on October 22, 1943 to Jessie and Leola (Hargrove) Barnes and was a life resident of the area. Mr. Barnes was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Ron worked as a steel worker for John Millis and retired after 32 years as a partner. He was a member of the Model A Club and was proud of his 1931 Ford Model A, enjoyed watching television and loved fishing on his pontoon boat. He will be remembered as an honest, trustworthy, well respected and much loved husband, father and grandfather. On June 19, 1970, Ron married the former Patty J. Harris in Muskegon and she survives him along with three children, Chuck (Margaret) Barnes, Gerry Barnes and Laura (Tim) VanBelkum; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William (Joan) Barnes and Terry Barnes and two sisters, Jessica (John) Oosting and Barbara Barnes. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Michael Barnes. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at The Walburn Chapel,1547 W. Sherman Blvd., 231-759-8565 with Rev. Jim Rausch officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service.
