Ronald W. Beckley's Obituary
On Saturday, May 16th, 2020, Ronald Wells Beckley, loving husband and proud United States Marine, passed away at the age of 80. Ronald was born on December 21st, 1939 in Muskegon, Michigan to York Wells and Wilda Loretta (Gowell) Beckley. Ronald joined the Marines and served from June 1957, to June of 1960. Ron received his accounting degree from Muskegon Business College in 1972. Ronald spent 42 years at CWC Textron and was a lifelong UAW member. Ronald had a passion for sports including bowling, baseball, hockey and football. Although he never witnessed a Detroit Lions Superbowl he was a season ticket holder for many years. His summers were spent watching his beloved Detroit Tigers with a bag of ballpark peanuts. Ronald was an avid bowler and participated in leagues around Muskegon. Still standing on his shelf at home is the pin that wouldn’t fall from his career high game of 299. Ronald married Kathleen (Tuman) January 8th, 1992. Ronald was a loving family man as well as a reliable trusted friend to many. Ronald is survived by his spouse Kathleen, his daughter Rebecca (Nathan) Beardsley, his seven sons Ronald (Laura) Beckley, A. Thomas (Jackie) Beach, Randal (Janet) Beckley, Russell (Tammy) Beckley, Ryan (Christina Farnquist) Beckley, Brian (Stephanie) Thompson, Joseph (Tawne) Thompson. His grandchildren Brandon, Heather, Nicholas, Isabelle, Abigal, Jessica, Timothy, Russell, Olivia, Marilla, GillyAnne, Elaina, Patrick, Alec, Samantha, Nathan and Luke. His great grandchildren Elizabeth, Sara, Gabriel, Joseph, Thomas, Braelynn, Kennadi, Emilio, Zane, Askel, Nolan, Lacie. His sister Carrie (Ivan) Kelsch and many nieces and nephews. Ronald was preceded in death by York and Wilda Beckley and his brother Robert Beckley. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the "Final Approach" Vietnam Memorial at Hidden Cove Park (3941 Grand Haven Rd.) Arrangements have been entrusted to Sytsema Chapel of The Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave. Muskegon, MI 49442. Ronald will be remembered for his strong and unwavering faith in his country and the United States Marine Corps. For a title was earned, A Marine for life you remain, Loyal, faithful, keeping true to Commitment, no shame. The legacy of the Corps you are now forever a part. You will live the values instilled deep in your heart. Semper Fidelis!
