Ronald Lynn DePung's Obituary
Ronald Lynn DePung was born on June 15, 1937 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was 85 years old when he ran into his Saviors’s arms. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family, on July 6, 2022.
Ron is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon, of 49 years, his mother and father, his brother Arnold DePung, his sister Norma Chertos, his companion Carole VanOpynen, and his son-in-law Jer Smant, all who joyously welcomed him into heaven.
Ron is survived by his children, Ronald Depung Jr (Anna Weiss) of Wayland, Suzanne Smant of Nunica, David Depung (Shari Cardosa) of Spring Lake, Thomas DePung (Francena) of Muskegon, Scott DePung (Monica) of Tennessee, and Kristi Simmons (Mike) of Georgia, 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; and his sister, Dawn Pawloski of Comstock Park MI.
Ron’s passion was sharing the love of Christ with others. He lived his life for the Lord, evangelizing everywhere he went. He was full of compassion and had a heart for the lost and hurting. Ron would start a conversation with any stranger and leave as a friend, having shared the gospel message of Jesus Christ with them. He led countless people to the foot of the cross and stood by their side as they came into a relationship with their newfound Savior. Ron is now worshiping his Lord and Savior side by side with his beloved wife, Sharon.
Ron pastored at three different churches throughout his 50+ year ministry. Grandville Wesleyan Church in Grandville, MI, Nortonville Gospel Chapel in Spring Lake, MI and First Congregational Church in Fruitport, MI. Ron was also on staff at Bible Related Ministries based out of Chicago, IL, and one of the Spiritual Directors with West MI DeColores. He also worked 50+ years in the insurance industry.
