Ronald Lee DeVries' Obituary
Ronald Lee DeVries, age 79, passed away at home on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in Muskegon, MI. He was born to Alvin and Marie (Kramer) DeVries on February 19, 1946, in Muskegon, MI. Ron was actively involved in his church as a deacon, bookkeeper, and the Hand-to-Hand Ministry. He also was known for his commitment and volunteer work at International Aid and mentoring at Lake Hills Elementary School. Ron could also be found enjoying the outdoors, working on landscaping, detailing cars, and bicycling. He also proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1967-1972. On October 9, 1971, he married the love of his life Emily VanNoordwyk and they spent 53 wonderful years together. She survives him along with their children, Dan (Kathy) DeVries, Jeff (Beth) DeVries; grandchildren: Samantha DeVries, Mason DeVries, Jayden DeVries; sister, Darlene (Ronald) Derr; and sister-in-law, Minda Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Marie DeVries; mother-in-law, Elizabeth VanNoordwyk; father-in-law, William VanNoordwyk; sister, Joann Slater and brother-in-law, David Slater. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to The Lakes Church. VISITATION will be Friday, March 14, 2025, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444 with a MEMORIAL SERVICE at 2:00 PM.
