Ronald H. McGhan's Obituary
Mr. Ronald McGhan, age 75, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a long battle with brain cancer. He was born on June 1, 1947 to Wilmer and Betty (Vanhuizen) McGhan in Muskegon. A lifelong resident of the area, Ron owned his own construction business, Ronald H. McGhan Builders building custom homes. On April 9, 1966, Ron married the former Clara Schmiedeknecht and she survives him. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting. Ron took several trips with his son around the United States and Canada to hunt. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Ron was the best husband, dad, and grandpa anyone could ask for and will be missed by his wife, Clara; children, Ron (Kerri) McGhan, Lisa (Marvin) Schaub, and Kristen (Joseph) Sherwood; grandchildren, Brandi (Matthew) Phelps, Ashley (Zach) Paquin, Alec (fiancée Justina Wilson) Sherwood, Samantha (Dan) Shoop, Taylor (fiancé Jonathan DeLoder) Sherwood, and Megan Schaub; great-grandchildren, Tate, Ezlyn, and Renly with two more on the way; and siblings, Barbara (Bill) Ropp, Donna Vanderplow, Bruce (Marilyn) McGhan, Scott McGhan; and sister-in-law, Sandy McGhan. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Joe McGhan. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00AM, Wednesday, June 29 at Olivet Evangelical Free Church, 6790 Harvey Rd., Spring Lake, MI 49456 with Pastor Craig Cramblet officiating.
