Ronald W. Miller's Obituary
Mr. Ronald W. Miller, age 79, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 in Howell, MI. Ron was born on January 18, 1944 to Carl Miller and June (Mathews) Johnson in Muskegon. Ron proudly served his country while in the United States Navy on nuclear submarine fleets. He was Honorably Discharged after 10 years of service and then continued serving in the National Guard for another 8 years. On September 21, 1974, Ron married the love of his life, Nancy Gonyon, in Muskegon and they spent 49 wonderful years together. He worked at Consumers Energy for 27 years as a unit control operator until his retirement in 2007. Ron enjoyed spending his time traveling with Nancy and his family, woodworking, and cheering on the Detroit Red Wings and the Michigan Wolverines. He was an avid hunter and spent a lot of time fishing with his buddies. Ron was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7729 and was a true patriot. Ron will be missed by his loving family including his wife, Nancy; daughters, Melanie Miller, and Stephanie (Mike) Kostiuk; sons, David Gonyon, Duane Kandelac, and Craig (Yvonna) Kandelac; grandchildren, Craig Kandelac Jr, Shawn Kandelac, David Buck III, Macey Buck & Sophia Kostiuk, great-grandchildren Wyatt Kandelac, Ava Kandelac, and Ellie Kandelac; sister, Bonnie (Don) Kandalec; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and long time friends, Dan and Vickie Boutell, Kris and Sue Norwick, Jim Wagonmaker, and Raymond Pease. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Connie, Carol, Cheryl, and Johnny. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 10 at 11:00AM at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI, 49442. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00AM. Burial at Egelston Twp. Cemetery.
