Ronald Lee Olmsted's Obituary
Ronald Lee Olmsted, age 82, of Grand Haven passed away, November 19, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 7, 1943, in Grand Rapids, MI to Otis and Marjorie (Stimpson) Olmsted. On August 7, 1996, he married Yvonne Cramer in Grand Haven.
Ron’s artistic talent was noticed at a young age. Beginning with cartoon sketches and lettertype, then transitioning into drafting tool drawings at Gardner Denver, to pinstriping and lettering classic cars and motorcycles. He was the proud owner of Olmsted Signs and Graphics located in the heart of Grand Haven, where he was able to display his craftsmanship throughout the community.
Ron was a member of the Tri-Cities Alano Club, where he openhandedly gave his time to helping others through their journey to sobriety.
He shared his life and love with his devoted wife of 29 years, Yvonne. He was a loving father to five children: Sandy (Grant) Hebert, Doug McConnell, Chad McConnell, Kate Cramer-Herbst, and Chuck (Laura) Olmsted; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce (Bev) Olmsted; and many relatives and friends; he is also survived by son-in-law, Justin Carr, and former wives, Karen Husted and Cheri Carter. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammra Carr.
A memorial service will be held December 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. and a celebration of life will follow from 1:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417.
