Ronald Alan "Ron" Parker's Obituary
Ronald Alan “Ron” Parker, age 78, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. Ron was born August 9, 1947 in Muskegon to Harold W. and Bernice M. (Davis) Parker and lived in the area most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy for 26 years serving during the Vietnam War. Ron worked as a service manager for Firestone Complete Auto Care in Muskegon for 21 years and retired in 2014. Ron loved spending time in his workshop out in the garage and was a gifted woodworker. Ron also loved classic cars and attending car shows with his 3 classics. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed a good game of cribbage or wizard. Survivors include his longtime companion, Marlyn Tamer; 2 children, Ronald A. (Jaime Shafer) Parker, Jr., Jenna Parker; his stepchildren, Jason (Paige) Lynch, Kimberly Lynch Spillane; Marlyn’s children, Don (Jackie) Hays, Ron (Jodie) Hays, Jeff Hays; and several grandchildren, in-laws and cousins. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Bernice Parker; his best friend and cousin, Jerry Davis; and his beloved grandson Tristen Hays. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held 10:00 AM Friday, January 30, 2026 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444, with Rev. Lynn Martin officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday, January 29, 2026 at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Norton Cemetery.
