Ronald Lee Piasecki's Obituary
Mr. Ronald Lee Piasecki, age 80, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in Muskegon after a seven-year fight against multiple myeloma. Ron was born in Muskegon on March 24, 1939 to Edward and Patricia (Koch) Piasecki. He served as class president and graduated from Muskegon Heights High School, class of 1957. He was awarded a baseball scholarship to the University of Michigan where he played second base. After graduation, Ron joined the United States Army and served as a Special Forces Group Captain. Following his service to his country, Ron attended Wayne State University where he graduated with his Juris Doctor. For several years, he practiced law in Muskegon specializing in real estate development, syndication, and management. In 1974, Ron co-founded Aspen Enterprises, Ltd. which became one of the largest privately held developers and owners of manufactured housing communities in the U.S. In 1996, Aspen Enterprises, Ltd. was sold to Sun Communities, Inc. and Ron continued to serve on their Board of Directors. He also served on several other executive boards and as a consultant for many Michigan based companies. Ron loved collegiate sports, remaining true to his alma matter, University of Michigan. He loved traveling, cooking, and wine. Ron will be remembered for his gregarious personality, his wit, and his ability to light up a room. He loved his family and friends and was especially proud to be a grandfather “Jaja”. He made a special point to be completely invested in his grandchildren’s lives. On July 21, 2007, Ron married the former Debra Johnston and she survives him along with his daughter, Tracy (Ben Lawrence) Piasecki; step-children, Carla (Travis) Koopman and Curt (Emily) Rouwhorst; grandchildren, Reid, Madeleine, Tess, and Lola; step-grandchildren, Niles, Alexis, Aubrey; his sister, Dorothy (Prince Humayun) Poland; nephews, Michael and Doug Poland, and niece, Renee Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Cole. According to Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
