Ronald L. Rogers' Obituary
Ronald Lee Rogers, age 88, passed away at his home in Muskegon, MI, on Sunday, June 9, 2024. Ronald was born in Gilmore, MI, on November 27, 1935, to Floyd and Bettie (Walker) Rogers. He graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1953 and then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. On November 18, 1987, he married the former Margaret Cox, and the two of them spent many wonderful years together. He owned and operated the Venture Bar in Muskegon for many years before retiring in 1990. Ronald was an avid shuffleboard player and even won a state championship as well as many other trophies. Him and Margaret loved traveling, especially to their winter home in St. Petersburg, FL. He enjoyed boating, walking, and taking care of his lawn. He was a man of few words, had a laid-back personality, and greatly appreciated life. Ronald is survived by his wife, Margaret Rogers; five children: Julie Rogers, Jeff (Dorsie) Rogers, Jodie Rogers, Lori (Ken) Humy, and Jim Basford; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE with MILITARY HONORS will be taking place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, 2188 Remembrance Dr, Muskegon, MI, 49441. A VISITATION for Ronald will be taking place from 12:00 PM -1:45 PM on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
