Ronald Volkers' Obituary
Mr. Ronald Volkers, age 63, peacefully went to be with his Lord Monday evening, July 19, 2004, at his home. He was born November 24, 1940 in Zeeland, MI to Herman & Harriet (Waldyke) Volkers and then moved to the Muskegon area in 1962 where he has since lived. Ron was a graduate of Calvin College and then received his M.A. from Western Michigan University. Ron had been a teacher and coach at Muskegon Christian School for 37 years, prior to his retirement. He was a member and former elder and deacon of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church. On August 17, 1967 he married the former Sandra Nagelkirk and she survives him along with 1 daughter, Kimberly (Rev. Mark) Vande Zande of Holland; 1 granddaughter, Kayla Vande Zande; 2 brothers, Ken (Betti) Volkers of Charleston, WV and Bob (Sue) Volkers of Holland; 2 sisters, Jan (Gerry) Hoekema of Byron Center and Marilyn (Steve) Gilman of Zeeland and by his father and mother-in-law, Ed & Angie Nagelkirk of Grand Rapids. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Robert Bierenga officiating. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery. VISITATION with Ron’s family will be 3-5 & 7-9PM Friday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442. 231-726-5210
