Ronald R. "Ron" Zant's Obituary
Ronald R. “Ron” Zant, age 87, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Trinity Health – Muskegon Hospital. He was born August 30, 1937 in Grand Haven, MI to Frank and Agnes (Fitzpatrick) Zant and was a resident of the area his entire life. Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. On February 10, 1978, he married Phyllis Y. Brown (Beadle) in Muskegon. Ron worked 38 years for Sealed Power Hi-Lift Division and retired in 1999 as supervisor of engineering. He was a member of St. Mary’s in Spring Lake. He was a member of the Vikings, the Muskegon Elks, and Mona Lake Boat Club. Ron enjoyed golfing, bowling, cooking, and cocktailing at Mona Lake Boat Club with his wife. He loved spending time with his family, taking walks, hiking and trips to the casino. Ron had a great sense of humor and was known to be quite the jokester. Survivors include 8 children, Terri (Marty) Ruiter, Ronald Zant Jr, Jeff (Ann) Zant, Anthony Zant, Tammy (Doug) Lamphier, David (Sandy) Brown, Jim Brown, Julie Sweet (Brown); 21 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly Becklin (Brown); his parents; brothers, Robert, Frank, Don, Jerry; and his sisters, Mary Agnes, Bonnie, and Darlene. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, February 17, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 406 E Savidge Street, Spring Lake, MI 49456, with Rev. Msgr. R. Louis Stasker presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
