Ronald L. Zuidema's Obituary
Ronald Lester Zuidema, age 92, was welcomed into the hands of Jesus on May 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 20, 1932 in Muskegon to Cornelius and Anna (Weesies) Zuidema, where he was a life-long resident, but had also wintered the last 20 years in Florida. Ron was a member of Discovering Christ Church. He loved music and enjoyed singing in the church choirs. He also served as Elder and Deacon in his previous church and was on the Christian School Board. Ron was an original member of the Lake Welding Supply Company, where he was warehouse manager, and worked 44 years before his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, hunting, carpentry, landscaping and gardening. Ron married the love of his life, Ardyce Ruth Decker, on October 12, 1951 and they were blessed with 73 years of marriage. Ardyce survives Ron along with their son, Wayne (Angelyn) Zuidema; daughters, Cynthia (Edward) Kendall and Rhonda (David) Hoekenga; six grandchildren, Trevor (Mary) Zuidema, Crystal (Joshua) Hollander, Ronald (Lindsey) Kendall, Thomas (Emily) Kendall, Justin Hoekenga, and Jessica (fiancé, Alex) Hoekenga); eight great-grandchildren, Simone, Xander, Blake Zuidema, Zoe and Micah Hollander, Haley Kendall, Everly and Audrey Kendall; two brothers, Daniel Zuidema and Douglas (Janice) Zuidema; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty (Gerald) Heykoop; and two brothers, Herman (Betty) Zuidema and Alfred Zuidema. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 19, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, with Pastor Scott VanArendonk officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 3-5 pm Sunday, May 18, 2025, also at The Lee Chapel.
