Mr. Ronald E. Burkall, age 81, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Poppen Residence. He was born on January 24, 1930 in Muskegon to Peter and Marie (Schmidt) Burkall, and resided in the area all of his life. Ron was employed at Teledyne Continental Motors for 43 years before retiring. He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood, Muskegon Eagles, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and cars. On June 9, 1948 he married the former Donna Douglas, and she survives him along with 4 children, Randy (Ruth Ann) Burkall of Kentwood, Jean (Gary) Sprecken of Fruitport, Karen (David) Selby of Norton Shores and Michael (Melissa Whitaker) Burkall of Norton Shores; 20 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Arthur (Delores) Burkall, Alvin Burkall; and 2 sisters, Norma Tyler and Audrey Neiser. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ted and Harold Burkall; two sisters, Marie Jensen and Alma Haase; and sister-in-law, Iris Hoffman. The family would especially like to thank the staff of the Harbor Hospice Poppen House. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be 2PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor Ron Amos officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 1-2PM. Burial will take place in Norton Cemetery.
