Rosalie A. Sorenson's Obituary
Rosalie A. Sorenson, age 87, passed away while surrounded by her family in Grand Haven, MI, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. She was born in Muskegon, MI, to Harrison and Margaret (Reynolds) Morrall, and she graduated from Muskegon High School. On December 20, 1958, she married Orville Sorenson, and the two of them spent 52 wonderful years building their family together until he preceded her in death in 2010. Rosalie had a passion for teaching, and she taught for 19 years at Grace Christian Academy before retiring in 2010. She was a longtime member at City Heart Ministries, and for over 60 years she played the piano at the various churches she attended.
Rosalie was incredibly social; she could talk to anyone, especially at restaurants or on her deck, and at any given event she would be the last to leave. She enjoyed knitting, and many people received scarves from her over the years. Rosalie was a proud American, a prayer warrior, and a safe haven for anyone who needed it. She was a non-judgmental, loving, thoughtful, supportive woman who could always be confided in, and she was quick to welcome anyone into her home.
Rosalie will be lovingly remembered by her seven children: Rebecca (John) Barrs, Chuck (Janice) Sorenson, Tim Sorenson, Laurie (Wayne) Richards, Greg Sorenson, Joan (Mark) LeeBall, and Kevin Sorenson; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Douglas Morrall; sister, Sue Smith; and many other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Margaret Morrall; husband, Orville Sorenson; grandson, Christopher LeBaron; great-granddaughter, Kenah Sue Sorenson; and two brothers, Harrison “Butch” Morrall and Robert Morrall.
A FUNERAL will be held for Rosalie at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444, with VISITATION taking place an hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to City Heart Ministries, 2731 Peck St, Muskegon Heights, MI 49444.
