Rose Evans' Obituary
Rose Evans, age 69, passed away in Lamont, MI, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born in Smithfield, NC, on March 2, 1956. On May 1, 1974, she married James Evans, and the two of them spent 36 wonderful years building a family together until he preceded her in death in 2010.
Rose was a quiet but strong-willed individual who was fiercely protective of her family. She had a creative side and enjoyed drawing, painting, journaling, and writing poetry. More than anything she loved spending time with her family.
Rose will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Sonni (Rob) Slago, Jeremy (Kim) Evans, and Jr. (Cameron) Evans; seven grandchildren: Dana (Andrew Williams) VanOort, Keegan (Carolina) Evans-Rivera, Arynn VanOort, Mikale (Kayla) Evans, Benjamin Evans, Eden Evans, and Thomas Evans; and five great-grandchildren: Archer, Eleanora, Calliope, Josiah, and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Hockaday, and her paternal grandparents who helped raise her, Jason and Esther Hockaday.
A Private Graveside service is being held for Rose. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grant Christian School,12931 Poplar Ave, Grant, MI 49327. Arrangements entrusted to The Ravenna Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 3570 Thomas Rd, Ravenna, MI, 49451.
