Rose E. Goven's Obituary
Mrs. Rose E. Goven, age 92, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Muskegon. She was born on September 2, 1922 in Chicago to Steve and Teresa (Beluzar) Madasy. Rose was a very active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was involved with the Sacred Heart Prayer Group, Eucharistic Ministry, C.A.S.T., the Food Pantry and the church’s Blood Drive. She worked in several greenhouses over the years, and loved gardening at home. Rose also enjoyed crocheting and drawing. On June 14, 1941, she married John Goven and together they celebrated 53 years of marriage. SURVIVORS include 6 children, Gary (Ella) Goven of California, Cathy (Dave) Mingus of Lansing, Mary Goven of Detroit, Monica (Steve) Czekuc of Coopersville, John (Kathy) Goven of Muskegon and Becky Sheldon of Muskegon; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and sister, Helen Chase of Muskegon. Rose was also preceded in death by her husband, John in 1994; her daughter, Gail Marie Goven in 1957; and 3 sisters, Julia, May, and Alice. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Antony Britto presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11 AM. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
