Mrs. Rose Marie Johnson's Obituary
Mrs. Rose Marie Johnson, age 84, passed away Friday morning, November 23, 2018, at the Poppen Residence. Rose was born August 12, 1934 in Muskegon to George and Anna (Toth) Rostar. Rose attended Sacred Heart School and St. Mary’s High School. She worked at Neisner’s Department Store for many years and being the “people person” that she was, received the “Employee of the Month” award many times. After Neisner’s closed, Rose worked at the Schultz Fence Company, Seaway Automotive Company and Johnsons’ Laundromat until her retirement.
Rose hosted family gatherings at the holidays for many years. She loved the outdoors and did much of the leaf raking, acorn pick up, and snow shoveling. This is where she met and visited with her neighbors. Rose was also an avid bowler.
Rose will be lovingly missed by her husband of 36 years, David Johnson; her step daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Bevans; beloved step grandchildren, Isaac and Hannah Bevans. Rose came from a large family and also surviving her are her siblings, George (Fran) Rostar, Irene Scott, James (Linda) Rostar, Sr. Carmen Rostar and Edward (Linda) Rostar. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John; sisters, Anna Balcom, Margaret Miller, and Mary Jean Rostar.
A MEMORIAL VISITATION will take place Friday, November 30, 2018 from 1-2 pm at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave, 231-726-5210, followed by prayers and interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Share memories with the family at Rose Marie’s on-line guest book at www.sytsemafh.com.
