Rosemarie Sorenson's Obituary
Rosemarie Sorenson, age 64, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023, in Holland, MI after struggling with chronic health issues for many years.
She was born December 18, 1958, in Detroit, MI, to Arnold and Dorothy (Cameron) Sorenson. Rosie grew up and attended school in the Detroit and Royal Oak areas. She loved fishing (especially during family vacations in Algonac) and was an avid card player and enjoyed board games. She volunteered with school PTAs, focusing on the school bingo fundraising projects. She loved going to the casinos and playing music trivia. After many years on the east side of Michigan, Rosie moved her family to the Grand Haven area, where she was proud to be a bus driver for Harbor Transit. She attended Spring Lake Presbyterian Church prior to relocating to Holland and was grateful to be part of their church community. She had extensive knowledge of classic sitcoms and movies and would retell the episodes into nightly bedtime stories for her children and grandchildren.
As her health declined, travel was limited but adventure highlights included a trip to see her favorite singer, Bruce Springsteen, perform in his home state of New Jersey and a visit down the shore to Asbury Park and Atlantic City. Another highlight was a trip to Chicago to see her granddaughter, Mari, take the stage in a Broadway tour in 2020.
Rosie is survived by her 3 daughters, Faye McLemore, Laura Sorenson, and Elisabeth (Aaron) Sorenson; 5 grandchildren, Aliyah McLemore, Adriana Frierson, Mariama Diop, Harrison Sorenson and Atreyu Sorenson; siblings, Carl Sorenson, Margaret (“Peggy”) Sorenson, Stewart (Vickie) Sorenson, Katherine Sorenson, and Priscilla Shafor. She is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Sharon Orlando, Judy Hansen, Connie Noble, Allison Sorenson, and Yvonne Sorenson; brother-in law Mathew (Mickey) Brancaleone, and special friend Garry Mallouf.
The family would also like to thank the various caregivers and medical personnel who provided support and kindness throughout the years, especially the Good Samaritans medical transport team who also provided friendship.
