Rose Marie "Rose" Strait's Obituary
Mrs. Rose Marie Strait, age 81, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 27, 2011. Born April 1, 1930 to Vincent and Ida (Schillaci) Turco, she was a life resident of Muskegon. She was the widow of Lynn Strait who died Sept. 23, 1988. Mrs. Strait was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and its Ladies Guild, the Nims Neighborhood Assn., Salvation Army Auxiliary, and TOPS. She had the heart of a volunteer, having been an usher at the Frauenthal for over 20 years, and was a past Salvation Army “Volunteer of the Year”. Her SURVIVORS include her children: David (Roberta) Strait, Susan (Gene) Stout, and Robert (Deanne) Strait all of Muskegon, Laura Strait of Mt. Pleasant, Timothy (Lori) Strait of Milwaukee, WI, John Strait of Muskegon, Joel (Jennifer) Strait of Aurora, IL, Jennifer (Larry) Winslow of Muskegon, and Valerie Strait of Brooklyn, NY; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise (Ronald) Robidoux of Muskegon; brothers Frank (Nancy) Turco of Phoenix, AZ and Robert (Carolyne) Bianchi of Grand Rapids; a sister-in-law, Patricia Turco of Goshen, IN; and Rose’s companion Jim Dalum of Muskegon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Larry, and brother, Jim. THE FUNERAL MASS for Mrs. Strait will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Michael Olsen as Celebrant, and interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION will be 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442, phone 231-726-5210, where the ROSARY will be prayed at 6 P.M. Monday. There will also be visitation an hour prior to the Funeral Mass, 9-10 A.M. Tuesday at the Church. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to the Salvation Army or Harbor Hospice would be appreciated.
