Rosemary S. Poort's Obituary
Rosemary Stevens Poort, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. She was born in South Haven to Harry Stevens and Hazel McIntyre on August 5, 1933. As a young child, her family moved to Muskegon, where she grew up. She married Phillip Poort in 1953. After the birth of their daughter, they moved to California in 1957. Rosemary worked at Rockwell International at Canoga Park, California until her retirement in 1995. While living in the Oasis Country Club in Palm Desert, they enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, and Laughlin, Nevada. In 2018, Phil and Rosemary moved to their hometown of Muskegon, MI. Rosemary enjoyed watching people play golf from her living room and participated in the women’s Putters Club in Palm Desert. Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Poort; her sister, Betty (Stevens) Sutherby; and brothers, Tim May and Ken May. She is survived by daughter, Collette (Poort) Bachtel; son-in-law, Don Bachtel; grandsons, Andrew Bachtel and wife, Courtney, and Alex Bachtel; sisters-in-law, Elaine May and Iris Poort; numerous nieces and their families. Rosemary requested no memorial service at this time. Cremation arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
