Rosemary K. VanderWall's Obituary
Rosemary K. VanderWall, age 92, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Sanctuary at the Shore. She was born November 19, 1924, in Grand Haven to Frank and Caroline (Schuld) Rank, and she married Gerald “Jerry” VanderWall, Sr. on June 16, 1945, in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1997.
Rosemary had been a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake, having sung in both choirs. She had a passion for music and loved playing her organ. For many years she was a member of the Sweet Adelines Choral Group and a former member of the Spring Lake Country Club. She was also an avid tennis player and golfer, and she enjoyed doing genealogy research with her daughter, Kathy. Rosemary loved her family and spending time with all of them was the joy of her life. Rosemary also enjoyed the time she spent with her husband in Arizona.
Rosemary is lovingly remembered by her six children: Gerald (Suzy) Vander Wall, Jr., Carol (Joe) Magnusson, Robert (Barb) Vander Wall, Kathy (Blair) Buchanan, Richard Vander Wall, Nancy (Mark) Iftner; fourteen grandchildren: Steve (Lisa) Wagenmaker, Cherie Wagenmaker, Wendy (Jon) Rasbach, Rob Vander Wall, Kristi (Keith) Kanouse, Angela Vander Wall, Sara (Scott) Thomas, Laurie (Billy) Cuchens, Aaron (Kaytlyn) Haase, Lindsay Haase, Christopher Vander Wall, Curtis Vander Wall, Jeffery (Julia) Vander Wall, and Stephanie (Asher) Iglesias; and twenty-two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a cousin, Mary Jo Schuld, and dear friend, Sister Colette Jolie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, and a daughter, Patricia Hatfield; sons-in-law, Lee Wagenmaker, Harry Hatfield, and Randy McKee and a cousin, James Schuld.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 20, 2017 at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Wednesday at The VanZantwick Chapel (620 Washington Ave.). Interment will take place in Lake Forest Cemetery.
