Roy L. Brackenrich's Obituary
Roy L. Brackenrich, age 82, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 15, 2019 at his home. He was born April 11, 1936 in Hines, West Virginia to Walter and Gladys (Clark) Brackenrich. Roy was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard. On May 25, 1956, Roy married the former Barbara A. Jack in Clifton Forge, VA and she preceded him in death on October 19, 2015. He worked 30 years as an inspector for CWC-Textron and retired in 1992. Roy attended Family Bible Church and was active with the UAW Retirees Group from CWC. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger days and loved all sports. He won many trophies and awards from horse shoe competitions. Roy was a great joke teller and loved to make people laugh. Roy enjoyed traveling to West Virginia to visit family and he especially enjoyed traveling and spending time in his later years with his friend, Betty Sorell. Survivors include 4 children, Chuck (Marva) Brackenrich, Cindy Szydlowski, Carolyn (Bob) Wilkie, Curt (Jennifer) Brackenrich; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Mickey (Jay) Brackenrich, Lewis (Lucy) Brackenrich; and 1 sister, Anna Lee Smith. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. Brackenrich, his parents, and 4 brothers. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 with Pastor Jerry DePoy officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
