Roy R. Burch's Obituary
Roy R. Burch, age 73, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 6, 2015. He was born March 9, 1942 in Superior, WI to Roy C. and Ruth M. (Norris) Burch. Roy graduated from Muskegon High School, the class of 1960, and also from MCC and Western Michigan University. He taught U.S. History and Government at Mona Shores High School for 31 years. Roy was a student advisor for several classes and coached boys and girls cross country for 10 years. He was a boat builder and owned a classic wooden boat, which he enjoyed taking to shows. He was also a sailor for many years. Roy was a private pilot and aircraft owner for over four decades. He was a life-member of the Seaway Gun Club and enjoyed shooting trap and skeet. He was a long-time member of the Board of Directors at the gun club and had served as a Director, Vice-President on several occasions, and as President for 3 years. SURVIVORS include his sister, Marcia (Jack) Cooke of Norton Shores; nephew, Jeffrey N. Cooke; several cousins; and close friends, Rex and Sheli Vanderlinde, Roger G. (Kathy) Stroop of Holland, Robert Moulds, and Steve Dakin. He was preceded in death by his parents. According to his wishes, cremation will take place. A CELEBRATION of Roy’s life will be held at the Mona Lake Boat Club on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 3 – 7 PM. Donations in Roy’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
