Roy Ramey's Obituary
Roy (David) Ramey, age 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 after bravely fighting a 4 1/2 yr. battle with kidney cancer. He was born on February 6, 1960 to David Ramey and Joy Swanson in Shelby, MI. He married Maria Tutak in 1983 in Rothbury, MI and she survives him. Roy was a realtor for Greenridge Realty. He loved working with people. Roy volunteered as a fireman for 25 years with the Grant Fire Department in Rothbury. He loved the outdoors. Some of his favorite activities were kayaking, camping, traveling with family and fishing the beautiful lakes and rivers in Michigan. But most of all, Roy loved just spending time with his family. Family was always first in his life. Roy will be remembered by his wife of 37 years, Maria; sons, Ryan (Liz) Ramey and Joshua (Nina) Ramey; grandsons, Lucas and Jaxon; parents, David (Barbara) Ramey and Joy Swanson; sisters Gwen (Jim) Young, Cindy (Jeff) Cockerill and Anna (Van) VanGuilder; brother-in-law, Bob (Joni) Houseman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeannie Ramey; stepfather, August Swanson; sisters-in-law, Eva Houseman and Jackie Tutak; and brother-in-law, Ken Tutak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 18, at 11AM at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Parish Church (920 Fulton St., Grand Haven, MI 49417) with Fr. Charles Schwartz officiating. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, January 17 from 3-6PM at church. Memorial contributions in Roy’s memory may be directed to St. Patrick’s Food Pantry.
