Roy Snyder's Obituary
Roy Snyder, age 93, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at a local care facility. He was born December 28, 1914, in Forestville, Wisconsin, and he married the former Anne Marie Nemmers on April 20, 1940, in Grand Rapids. She preceded him in death on May 18, 1998.
Mr. Snyder lived most of his life in the Tri-Cities area and was owner and operator of the former “Snyder’s Creamery,” which he sold to the Warber family in the early 1950s. A renowned area musician, he spent many years playing for the Frank Salisbury Band and the Mike Dion Band in Muskegon. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Grand Haven Golf Club, the Musician’s Union Local 252, and the Central States Teamsters Union.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda J. Veihl of Spring Lake; two sons: Jim (Mary) Snyder and Rick (Jerri) Snyder, both of Nunica; five grandchildren: Jamie and Amber Burch, Todd (Kelly) Deal, Charity (Craig) Hutchinson, and Nikki (Darren) Vilminot; four great-grandchildren: Joey, Anna, Macy, and Kyandra; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anne Snyder; his son-in-law, Ken Veihl on August 3, 2007; and a brother, Loyal Snyder.
The service for Roy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lakeshore Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association are appreciated.
