Roy A. French's Obituary
Mr. Roy A. French, age 91, died Friday evening, February 6, 2004. He was born October 26, 1912 in Paris, Tennessee to Lewis H. and Etta J. (Presson) French, and had lived in the Muskegon area for 64 years. Mr. French worked for Shaw-Walker for 34 years before retiring in 1975. He was also self-employed as a jeweler for many years. Mr. French loved to tinker, and was a “jack of all trades.” He was a member of the Norton Shores Gospel Tabernacle, and was very supportive of his church. On December 7, 1930, he married the former Zula M. Brewer in Big Sandy, Tennessee, and she preceded him in death on October 5, 1991. SURVIVORS include his daughter-in-law, Audrey (Sid) Henderson of Muskegon; 2 grandchildren, Jan (Mike) Rathbun of Fruitport, Randy (Pamela) French of Grand Haven; 3 great-grandchildren, Andrea Rathbun, Paul (Sonya) Rathbun, Harmony French; and a great-great-granddaughter, Sarah Parker. He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Leon French; and 22 brothers and sisters. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave.(231) 726-5210 with Pastor Mike McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Monday. MEMORIALS to the Norton Shores Gospel Tabernacle will be appreciated.
