Mr. Ruben Escareno's Obituary
Mr. Ruben Escareno, age 89, passed away Saturday evening, August 31, 2013. He was born December 19, 1923 in Strawn, TX to Panfilo and Isabel (Avina) Escareno. Ruben was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving in France and Germany and was awarded a Purple Heart for his military service. He worked in heavy construction most of his life. Ruben loved landscaping, gardening, repairing and rebuilding almost anything, and restoring old tractors. Mr. Escareno was a member of East Muskegon Church of God, the VFW Post #7729, and the American Legion #9. In 1950 he married the former Patricia L. Wade-Rider in Kentucky and she survives him along with 2 sons, Tony Deeds of Shelby, MI, Seymour “Lee” (Judy) Rider of O’Fallon, IL; 4 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jesse (Diane) Escareno; 8 sisters, Ellia Belmarez, Nellie Ortiz, Connie Haines, Rita Ornelas, Susan Esquivel, Shirley Ornelas, Eva Vasquez, Rose Norconk; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Armondo and Charles Escareno and 4 brothers. SERVICES will be 2:00 PM Friday at
The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210 with Rev. Steven Sower officiating. Burial will take place in Egelston Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
