Ruby Mae VanderStelt's Obituary
Mrs. Ruby Mae VanderStelt, age 90, died Monday August 28, 2006 in Holland. She was born on December 10, 1915 in Muskegon to Melvin and Elsie (York) Pomeroy, and had resided in the Muskegon area for most of her life until moving to Grand Rapids in 1996. Mrs. VanderStelt was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, where she and her husband had been custodians for some time. She also worked at Hardy Herpolsheimer’s in Muskegon. On September 22, 1937 she married Albert VanderStelt, and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1989. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Sharlene (Larry) Nyhoff of Grand Rapids, Carole (Mario) Bartoli of Zeeland, and David (Debra) VanderStelt of Grand Haven; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Mary (Garry) Broek of Tennessee and Noreen (Ken) Questad of Florida. Mrs. VanderStelt was also preceded in death by 1 son, Albert VanderStelt, Jr. in 1998; 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. SERVICES will be 11 AM Thursday at First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Mike Borgert officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 and 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11 AM at church. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to Western Michigan Christian High School Endowment Trust Fund or the Hospice House of Holland would be appreciated.
