Ruby P. "Polly" Medendorp's Obituary
Mrs. Ruby P. “Polly” Medendorp, age 61, passed away August 7, 2010 at home surrounded by family after battling cancer since 2002 and has been a resident of Muskegon area since 1966. She was born on August 2, 1949 to John H. and Dorthoy W. (Robinson) Brewer in Murfreesboro, TN. Polly worked 26 years at Northway Lanes. She was involved for many years with Reeths Puffer Cubscouts, Little League Football and Baseball. Polly was a current member of Muskegon Eagles Aux 668 Drill Team; Greater Muskegon Bowling Association and longtime secretary of Muskegon Early Risers Bowling League. In her free time Polly enjoyed to gamble, play bingo, and travel with bowling and drill teams for tournaments and competitions. On June 21, 1966 she married Lewis A. Medendorp in Hawaii and he survives her along with 2 sons, Michael (Jeanie) Medendorp and Craig (Robin) Medendorp both of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, Kenny, Ryan, Shelby, Steven and Michael; 2 brothers, Johnny Brewer and Barry Wayne Brewer of CA; 1 sister, Donna Annette Nations of CA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Polly will be greatly missed by longtime friends Kathy Szczesny, Sue Ellis, Peggy Carr, Carol Linderman, Annette Jones and special friend Colleen (Beav) Morey. MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor Lynnette Gillett officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 6 - 8 PM Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to G.M.U.S.B.C. Youth.
