Russell John Raap's Obituary
RAAP, RUSSELL JOHN Muskegon Russell John Raap, age 78, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Trinity Health – Muskegon Campus. He was born March 31, 1946 in Muskegon to F. Charles Raap, and Margaret Anderson and was a lifelong resident of the area. On February 2, 1974, he married Margaret Ann Dobyns in Muskegon. Russell worked as an assembler at Knoll Group and retired in 2009 from L3 Communications after working as a machinist and assembler for over 30 years. Russell was an avid golfer and could be found on a golf course rain or shine or watching the stocks or the news with his dog Bella on his lap. He was known for his quick sense of humor and easy-going attitude and was also a very active lifetime member of the Fruitport Eagles. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 51 years, Margaret A. Raap; 2 sons, Russell John Raap Jr., Jeffery Robert Raap; 2 grandchildren, Hali Raap, Vincent Raap; 2 great-grandchildren, Raelynn Raap, Troy Raap; 3 sisters-in-law, Susan (Rodney) Harms, Kathleen J. (Kevin) Krupp, Sally J. Evans; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joni Ardis, and brother, Charles Raap. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 24, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444, with Rev. Tim Bryson officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow the service at the Fruitport Eagles, 3354 S. Dangl Road, Muskegon, MI 49444. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday, January 23, 2025 and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be directed to The Noah Project.
