Russell Eugene Stephenson's Obituary
Russell Eugene Stephenson, age 84, of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 9, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. Russell was born on May 8, 1937, to Roy and Edna (Barbour) Stephenson. Besides his parents, Russ was preceded in death by his siblings; Terry Stephenson, Larry Stephenson, Jack Stephenson, Wesley Stephenson, Lois Devries, Marilyn Colson, and Sylvia Faught. He was also preceded in death by his beloved Seal-point Siamese cat, Tawney II, in 2010. Russ is survived by his wife of 62 years, MaryAnn (Hodits) Stephenson; his son, Timothy (Barbara) Stephenson; his grandchildren, April (Clair) Smith, Joshua (Andrea) Stephenson, Allen Rust, and Andrew Rust; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-greatgrandchildren, with one more due on February 26, 2022. Russ was a devoted Catholic, a longtime member (29 yrs.) of St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church, who became even more devoted as he got older and was not able to physically attend Mass each week. He retired from Lift-tech International in 2006. He loved to spend time with his family and his friends. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, watching wildlife/farm animals, and taking rides out by the lake and around the countryside. His wonderful stories and his goofy humor will be tremendously missed by all. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church in Norton Shores on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 11:00 AM, with a luncheon following at the church. Visitation will take place Wednesday, November 17, 2021, from 5pm – 7pm at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be held from 10–11 AM (prior to the Mass) at St. Frances de Sales. There will be a private, graveside ceremony following the services at St. Frances de Sales for immediate family members. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Pound Buddies.
