Russell W. Way Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Russell Way Sr, age 90, of Spring Lake passed away Wednesday, August 8th, 2018. He was born August 24th, 1927, the youngest of seven children, to Herbert and Irene (Reames) Way in Grand Rapids. On January 20th, 1949 he married Yvonne Gardner who preceded him in death on October 31st, 2016.
Russell was a skilled craftsman who began tinkering with electronics as a young child. He could fix almost anything and loved working around the house. He also enjoyed sailing on the river with his children. He retired from Continental Motors in Muskegon where he worked as an aircraft experimental technician. After retirement, he helped manage the Shaker Good Room Restaurant with his wife, Yvonne. He enjoyed watching Detroit Tigers baseball especially in his later years.
He is lovingly remembered by his three children: Russell Way, Jr. (Patricia) of Grands Rapids, Andrew Way of New Mexico, and Susan Marris of Spring Lake; seven grandchildren, Monica (Gerard) Despres, Erika (Kevin) Betts, David Way, Phillip (Rob) Way, Katie (Ron) Carpenter, Brooke (J.D.) Kingsnorth, and Tiffany (Josh Deter) Marris; ten great-grandchildren: Zane Way, Brianna and Bryce Despres, Spencer and Bradyn Betts, Roddy Carpenter, Ezra and Eloise Kingsnorth, and Michael and Luke Deter; sister-in-law, Gwen (Doug) Noren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer Way; niece, Amy Noren; and son-in-law, Terry Marris.
Visitation services will be held 6-8 PM Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Spring Lake Chapel (213 E. Savidge). Memorial service will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Spring Lake Chapel.
