Mr. Russell A. "Russ" Winsemius' Obituary
Mr. Russell A. “Russ” Winsemius, age 84, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Mercy Hospital. He was born July 15, 1933 in Muskegon to Anton J. and Angie A. (Rose) Winsemius and lived his entire life in the area. Russ worked as a delivery driver for 32 years at the Oven Fresh Bakery and retired in 1987. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen F. Hodges on July 27, 1951 and they were married nearly 54 years before she passed away in 2005. He later married Mary Jane (Kent) Campbell on July 29, 2006 and she survives him. Russ had previously been active at Faith Reformed Church where he served as a deacon, elder and treasurer. He was currently a member of Fellowship Reformed Church. Russ was a volunteer usher at the Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts as well as International Aide. Attending the sporting events for his kids and grandkids were his top priority. SURVIVORS include his wife, Mary Jane and her 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; his children, Debbie (Bill) Born, Dick (Patti) Winsemius, Nancy (Dennis) Hanks; grandchildren, Jeff (Katie) Born, Sarah (Brian) Hammer, Matthew (Aynsley) Born, David (Jessica) Winsemius, Steven (Lindsey) Winsemius, Andrew (Michelle) Winsemius, Mary Ann (fiancé Nick Gereaux) Winsemius, Megan Hanks, Michelle (Scott) Harris, Matt (Desire) Anderson, Mike (Lindsay) Anderson, Maria (Jeff) Tetzlaff, and 18 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law, Ron (Von) Hodges, Jerry (Dede) Hodges; and 1 sister-in-law, Sharon McMann. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Gerald and Bruce Winsemius. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00am Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Fellowship Reformed Church (4200 E. Apple Ave.) with Rev. Mike VanKampen officiating. VISITATION will be held 5-8pm Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. INTERMENT will be held at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
