Mrs. Ruth Grace Aardema's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Grace Aardema, age 67, passed away Saturday morning, February 24, 2018, surrounded by family. Ruth was born February 27, 1950 in Muskegon to Sidney and Henrietta “Bonnie” (Bonnema) Dephouse. On May 29, 1971 she married Terry L. Aardema and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2015. Ruth spent more than 27 years at Howmet as a data processor, retiring in 2005. Early on in her life, she worked at Ryke’s Bakery, becoming an accomplished cake decorator. She and Terry were both active in organizing the car shows at the Apple Avenue Mr. Quick. Ruth had a crazy sense of humor, and had a passion for her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Everyone loved Aunt Ruth. She is survived by her son, Shawn; grandsons, Zach and Alex; brother, James (Cathy) Dephouse; sister, Beth (John) Messina; sister-in-law, Michele (Robert) Forberg; and nieces and nephews, Cari Forberg, Danielle Hershey, Jason (Elizabeth) Dephouse, Jon Dephouse, Michael Messina and David Messina; great-nephews, Ethan Dephouse, Caleb and Josiah Dephouse and Drew Hershey. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 3 PM Saturday, March 3, 2018 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Rev. John DeBoer officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (2-3PM). MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Melanoma Research Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or Noah Project.
