Ruth Evelyn Johnson's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Evelyn Johnson, age 92, was promoted to glory on Sunday, July 17, 2016. She was born in Muskegon on December 11, 1923 to Marcus and Helene (Ravneng) Horness and was a life-long resident of the area. Ruth graduated from Muskegon High School in 1942 and attended Central Bible Institute of Springfield, MO. She was retired from Muskegon Public Schools where she worked as a secretary. Ruth was an active life-long member of Central Assembly of God Church where she had served as past secretary and a spiritual mentor. She was a member of the White Lake Shuffle Board Club, was an avid game player and enjoyed puzzles. Ruth had a great sense of humor, enjoyed telling jokes and always lived life happy. On September 21, 1990, Ruth married Marcus Dale Johnson and he survives her along with two children, Joan (Irving) Cryderman and Donald Kevin Harms; four grandchildren, Irv (fiancée, Christy Howell) Cryderman, Jr., Kristen (Chad) Sliter, Anna Nyson and Sarah Nyson; two great-grandchildren, Kaelynn and Kendall; Marcus’ children, James (LaRae) Obenauf, Kenneth Obenauf and Nancy (Orville) Johnson and their families; one brother, Marcus (Joyce) Horness, Jr. and one foster sister, Jor (Russ) Ritter. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, James Horness, Bernard Horness and Eugene Horness; two sisters, Esther Shamel and Florence Meppelink and two foster siblings. A CELEBRATION OF RUTH’S LIFE will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Central Assembly of God Church (896 Home St., Muskegon, 49442) with Rev. Wally Reames, III officiating.
