Ruth Marie Lane's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Marie Lane, age 86, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in Whitehall, Michigan at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Big Rapids, Michigan on May 17, 1934 to Arthur and Edna (Turner) Sokoloski. Ruth had worked for Child and Family Services for 20 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed trips to the casino, crafts, baking, and sewing. On October 3, 1953, Ruth married Kenneth L. Lane in Big Rapids and he preceded her in death on August 5, 2008. She is survived by her children, Lori (Rick) Link, Kenneth (Nadette) Lane, Todd (Melody) Lane, and Melody (Raymond) Peake; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Critchfield. In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a grandson, Lucas Lane and three siblings, Chuck and Jim Sokoloski and Barb Manoski . A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, May 1, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. VISITATION will be one hour prior to her services. Burial will take place in Highland View Cemetery, Big Rapids, MI at a later date.
