Ruth L. (Leaf) Steingass' Obituary
Ruth Leila (Leaf) Steingass went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 16, 2018, while a resident at the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice House of Muskegon. She was born on July 25, 1938 in Muskegon, Michigan and remained near the shores of Lake Michigan her entire life, with the exception of a few months after marrying Paul L. Steingass of Bryan, Ohio on February 14, 1959. Ruth's faith in Jesus Christ was evident throughout her lifetime and she unabashedly shared her beliefs by word and deed. She was a member of Dalton Baptist Church and loved to entertain young and old, dear & new friends in their home. Ruth worked at Muskegon Community College, retiring from there in 2003. She is survived by her husband, Paul; brother, John H. (Vivien) Leaf of Lysle, Illinois; daughters, Carol Rudicil of Whitehall, Leila Ruth Schoeller of Santa Rosa, California, and Kate (Darrin) Watts (who had been her constant caregivers) of Muskegon; 3 granddaughters; 3 great-granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons, as well as several nieces & nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Lyman J. Leaf; mother, Kathryn (Harris) Leaf; sister, Carmen (Leaf / Nelson) Linderman; and a niece & 2 nephews. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 4PM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Dalton Baptist Church (3777 Holton Rd.). VISITATION with the family will be held on Friday, January 19 from 6 - 8 pm at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave, (231) 726-5210.
