Ruth Ann Mays' Obituary
Ruth Ann Mays, age 68, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. She was born September 23, 1955 in Muskegon to Joseph A. and Lois M. (Murphy) Mays and was a lifelong resident of the area. Ruth Ann earned her Bachelors of Business Degree from Ferris State University and worked for several area companies, but her most enjoyable position was that of Executive Assistant to the Kauffman Family of Amstore. Ruth Ann was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, genealogy and tending to her flower gardens. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and the many holiday dinners. Ruth Ann loved to go shopping and was a very gifted cook. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her brother, James (Jane) Mays; 2 nephews, Joseph (Jesica) Mays, Dan (Ming) Mays; 2 great-nephews and 1 great niece; 3 cousins, Mary Ann (Don) Scofield, Larry Zaremba, Gordon (Gerry) Beyer; and 2 special friends, Sue and Sharon. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, John T. Mays. A Memorial Service will be held 1:30 PM Monday, October 23, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, 12:30-1:30 PM Monday. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
